Fair stable – working against sexual harassment in the horse sector

Fair stable (Schysst stall) – working against sexual harassment in the horse sector, is a training and information initiative developed by the Swedish non-profit work environment organisation Prevent.

Schysst stall was initiated by the parties of the Swedish labour market Kommunal (Sweden’s largest trade union), Almega (the Employers’ Organisation for the Swedish Service Sector) and Gröna arbetsgivare (The Swedish Federation of Green Employers) and is backed by the Swedish horse sector.

The purpose of Schysst stall is to educate and inform about what sexual harassment is, instruct employers how they can work preventively to avoid the occurrence of sexual harassment, and to teach employees and students their rights and what they should do if it happens to them.

The vision of Schysst stall is zero tolerance on sexual harassment and abuse in the horse sector.

Schysst stall is aimed at employers and employees in the horse sector, and students in professional schools oriented towards the horse sector.

The initiative consists of an online course for employers outlining their legal responsibility for working actively against harassment in the workplace, fourteen animated short films to be used as a basis for discussion, and a tutorial for teachers in professional schools, with exercises to be used with the students in the classroom. The exercises teach the students their rights and allow them to practice difficult situations so that they know what to do if they should experience sexual harassment while on internship or when they start working.

All the material is published on this website, which also contains a chatbot where you can ask anonymous questions about sexual harassment and abuse, and get answers adjusted to who you are, your previous knowledge and what has happened.

This website also contains a map of Sweden, where employers who have passed the online course can show their stables as a "Schysst stall" (Fair stable).
